We are excited to welcome Carey Painchaud as our new Operations Manager for Saskatchewan! With over 30 years in industrial construction—starting as an electrical apprentice and moving into project and business management—Carey brings a wealth of experience and a drive to grow the Saskatchewan division while keeping the Stratus culture strong.

Carey is passionate about building lasting industry relationships and mentoring the next generation of leaders. He’s all about teamwork, believing that "There is no Stratus without 'US'!"

When he’s not leading the charge, you’ll find Carey spending time at Candle Lake with his family, snowmobiling, golfing (even if he’s not going pro), and—fun fact—he can’t pass a Dairy Queen without stopping!

We are thrilled to have Carey on board and can’t wait to see the positive impact he’ll make.

Welcome to the team, Carey!

That’s awesome 🙂

As the sun sets over the RES Big Sky solar farm just outside of Acadia Valley, we pause to appreciate the work that goes into building a cleaner future. Across 800 acres, this site stands as a quiet reminder of progress—140MWAC /182MWDC of renewable energy flowing into the grid, miles of cable connecting ideas to action.

Captured by Joseph Fraser, an apprentice on site, this moment reflects the dedication of every person who plays a role in shaping a more sustainable tomorrow.

Stratus was pleased to attend the 2025 Kidsport donor appreciation lunch, where we heard some truly inspiring stories. The impact of kidsports goes far beyond the game—it builds confidence, teamwork, and lifelong opportunities. We got to hear personal stories that without access to sports programs, they would never have had the chance to experience the camaraderie, discipline, and life lessons that come with being part of a team.

Locally, 9,895 kids in Calgary and the surrounding area received support last year—and the need keeps growing. In 2025, over 10,000 kids will require assistance with more than $3.07 million in registration fees, and an additional 5,000 kids will need equipment to play.

We love being part of a community that gives kids the chance to play, grow, and thrive. Seeing young people have opportunities to succeed is what it’s all about, and we’re grateful to be surrounded by a network that makes a real difference.

To all the coaches, volunteers, and donors—thank you for making kids' sports possible!

A special shout-out to Joey Tetarenko, who is a KidSport ambassador this year! We look forward to supporting you in making sports more accessible for kids and giving them the opportunity to play, grow, and succeed.

At Stratus, we know that our people are the heart of everything we do. During our Fresh start meeting, we took a moment to celebrate our incredible team members who have been with us for 5 and 10 years – a testament to the culture of commitment, teamwork, and excellence that makes Stratus what it is.

A special shoutout to two team members who have been “born and raised” here at Stratus—meaning they started as laborers and worked through their Apprentice program with Stratus’s support! Michael Jetz in Lethbridge and Graham Crossley in Calgary!

To Michael, Graham, and everyone marking these milestone years with us—thank you! Your dedication and passion drive our success, and we couldn’t be prouder to have you on this journey.

Over the weekend we were proud to provide our office facilities as the gathering space for the U19 AA Blaze Ringette team’s recent team event!

What made this gathering extra special was hearing how the team took our core values and purpose—like teamwork, commitment, and connection—and related them to their own goals and aspirations. It’s neat to see how these principles resonate far beyond our walls.

We hope you enjoyed your time at the Stratus office—it’s opportunities like these that remind us how important community connections truly are!
